History

(2005-2006)

The Emblem was a five-piece indie-rock-progressive unit based out of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The Emblem began in the winter of 2005 with Karl Renfro on drums and Ben Prostine on guitar. Using riffs and unfinished songs from previous bands, they began to search for a sound that they would enjoy playing as well as listening to. Shortly after forming, Ben and Karl asked Cole Highnam and David Woods to join, with Cole on the bass and David playing rhythm guitar. By the end of the 2005-2006 school year, they had three song and began playing shows. They played their first show with drummer, Karl Renfro, covering vocals. Tim Dodd was added to vocals soon after, and they recorded a six song EP in September before Tim went to Colorado and Thailand for six months. In March of 2006, they played several shows in the lower midwest. They recorded an unreleased three song EP on Tuesday, the 15th of August before indefinitely giving up the ghost--indefinite because there are always possibilities--due to a loss of momentum and interest. Cole Highnam joined Holy Fucking Ghost to play bass and Ben Prostine joined Off with the Hats in January 2007 to play guitar and keyboard. Other projects are bound to happen for other members.

Band Members

Band members were involved in other Cedar Valley bands before and during the existence of the Emblem including Safie, Friends of Alf/Silent Revolver, Win the Fight, Hollis, Knuckle Sandwich, Attisin Esche.
