History

Weird Clouds and Rainbows began and ended in the summer of 1991. We tried to think of the dorkiest band name imaginable.

We recorded a cassette demo of songs in 1 day at a house in Waterloo Iowa. It was engineered by Nic Durnin, who mixed everything live and ran the stereo master into a HiFi VCR with a 12 bit digital audio track. This was then transferred to DAT.

Anecdotes / Memories

Small town Iowa, front yard, maple trees making dappled sunpatterns on the ground, swaying, grilled chicken, ernest and julio with screw top and a handle, cool damp basement, smell of panelling, large speakers, classic guitars, an obsesive yet futile desire to sound like galaxy 500, four friends and all the time in the world. Memories of my time with Weird Clouds and Rainbows are played back as a dusty real of flickering celluloid flapping inside my head.
