Violent Love Cowboys (VLC) were an acoustic duo consisting of Matt Wilson and Sara Shelton of Crock of Dookey. VLC was formed as an outlet for all the "silly love songs" we wrote that didn't quite fit in the framework of punk rock.

We played one party at Matt and Whitney's--I think we opened up for The Glorious Sloshbuckets. Wait--how could that be? Maybe this was in the summer of 1989.

We never recorded as VLC, though versions of songs in the VLC repetoire exist, notably on Crock of Dookey's "Stupidest Hits" collection.
