The Smiling Savage was a student zine published at East High in Waterloo in the late 1980s, mostly consisting of opinion and subversive humor. It was not well received among the school's administration, which was allegedly responsible for its ending. A brief attempt was made by student Seth Thomson to revive it in 1991, but this only lasted one issue.
