History

The Mittens were formed in the year 2000. Singer/guitar player/songwriter Kevin Jass, bass player Stacy Peck, and drummer Pat Curtis constituted the original lineup. The trio recorded "In Spite Of U" and released it on The Tyros Label in 2001. Kevin and Pat were joined by bassist Sean Wilson after Stacy left the band to pursue a film career in Seattle, and the band continued to play shows around the Midwest. Eventually Pat moved on to a couple of other bands, and Sean did the same.

The Mittens version three consist of Kevin, and bass player Niles Naaktgeboren, and brother Bill Naaktgeboren on drums. The band recorded "Transportation Disguises" with John Svec in Iowa City in 2003. It was released in the fall of 2004.

The latest release "This Carnival Egg", was recorded from 10/05-6/06 at Catamount Studios in Cedar Falls, engineered, mixed and mastered by Travis Huisman and produced by Travis and Kevin and released in the fall of 2006.

Incidentally, Bill and Niles previously played together in Nasty Jack and N. A. N. in the mid to late seventy's. The Mittens mark the first time the two brother's have played in a band together since 1977. Niles has also played in around forty bands from the cedar valley over the year's, including Bo Ramsey and the Sliders, Falcon Eddy, The Triggermen, and The Ubbergoobers to name a few.

The Mittens currently call Cedar Falls, Ia. home.
