History

The Glorious Sloshbuckets was a concept band which was formed in the summer of 1989. The initial idea was to create a sound collective with a transient membership which would meet regularly and record spontaneous songs based on improv playing. This idea was influenced in equal parts by the 1985 album "Worldbroken" by the L.A. band Saccharine Trust which was recorded spontaneously at a live gig and the German band Einsturzende Neubauten, who often used industrial objects as instruments.

The band met in garages in basements and consisted of anyone who happened to show up. One time a UNI Opera singer joined in. The instruments used ranged from traditional (drum kit, bass, guitar, saxophone) to industrial (oil drums, clanging metal poles, power tools). Members frequently switched instruments.

Every performance was recorded on cassette tape. In 1989, these tapes were edited down into a single 90 minute cassette with some digital mastering. The tape was never released and was only dubbed a few times for members of the band.
