From The Secret History of the Cedar Valley
I left Cedar Falls in March 1996 for Tampa Bay. When I returned to attend my brother's wedding, I was devastated to find my beloved Steb's no longer existed. I grew up in Cedar Falls, attended UNI, and had some of the best times of my younger life in that incredible bar. HOLS shows in the winter with the front windows all steamed up are some of my fondest memories of the otherwise boring CF scene. I now live in a metropolitan area of 3 million people, and there is nothing like Steb's here. Cedar Falls died a little when Steb's was bulldozed - shame.
