History
Three piece band rom Cedar Falls formed in 1985 in the UNI dorms. Original members Brooke and Craig started jamming together and eventually recruited Jon (Craig's roommate at UNI) to play bass. Jon had a good feel for the music and Brooke taught him how to play and where to put his fingers. After 3 months of practicing in the dorms everyday for 3 hours a day, they decided it was time to get out and see if a crowd would accept their new music.
Band members rented out Dean's Parkade Lounge and found a new band to open for us--A Band Called Horse (Drednex Drummer Kelly Plumber's project). It went pretty well and we were hooked on playing live.
The music of the Skitzo Boys was a cross of Punk/Country/New Wave. They progressed towards more Rockabilly after getting bookings at several 50's & 60's bars in Cedar Rapids and small towns around Cedar Falls. They played at Steb's regularly.
