Question Mark Bar

From The Secret History of the Cedar Valley

Jump to: navigation, search

A short-lived bar in the former Steb's location after it was sold to Tony Tomlyanovich. As one of his first acts as new owner, Tony had the famous murals on the exterior wall of Steb's painted over in black paint covered with large red question marks. Perhaps the idea was to build suspense in anticipation of his big plans for a beach-themed bar in that location.

During this period, the bar was no longer Steb's, but it did not have a new name, Bands who were playing shows had to come up with something to put on flyers. "The Question Mark Bar" was the prevailing name.

After a few months of sporadic operation, Tony bulldozed the building to the ground.

Anecdotes

  • I remember going to one of the last shows here where they served all the beer in bottles out of coolers full of ice. Not sure why.

Lore

  • It is rumored that the minimum wage employees who did the painting over the murals, simply screwed up and left out all the letters that were to spell "????? Should I bulldoze this to the ground????? ". Without recieving an answer Tony used his best judgment and decided that he should.
