Lid 11
From The Secret History of the Cedar Valley
All I know is that a bunch of copies of this homemade tape "Black Industrial Diamonds" by someone calling themselves "Lid 11" (I asked, and was informed, no relation to Box 10) turned up in the "Local Artists" box at Co-Op Records once upon a day in the early to mid-90s. I thought it was cool as shit that someone local was doing industrial music, so I bought one. I still think it's one of the most genius things ever made in Cedar Falls. It sounds like it was sequenced on an old MacIntosh with really grungy low-bitrate sampling, freaky electronic sounds, and a nutty sense of humor. A lost classic, for real. --chuck hoffman
