Jane's Day Care

The basement of Jane's Day Care on W. 19th St. in Cedar Falls has been a location for a number of shows throughout the years, including Crock of Dookey's first show in 1986 and the Funky Jive Guys' only show (in 1988). Probably the only venue in existence where you could watch a show AND play with vintage Fisher-Price toys, Adventure People, & Smurfs.

It has also been used as a recording studio for bands such as Stephen Oulman's Tot Lot Band.

Acedotes

Jane Wilson- Jane's Day Care has always been a major supporter of the arts. We are a pretty global community! I remember the debut of Crock of Dukey....Ben was just a baby and Matt informed the band members as well as the audience that the show which began at 5 PM would have to end at exactly 8 PM because baby Ben had to get to sleep. I also remember the other Wilson siblings being present, sometimes obnoxiously, especially when a boy and a girl were close to each other and the Wilson boys would loudly exclaim "Yeach" come and sit by me! Barry missed this first show because he was out of town at class. But we did get to go to many shows at Deans Parkade Lounge....Not to mention Barry transporting "The Agressive Chubbies" to Des Moines. His favorite story of this was stopping at Albion, IA, for gas, and all the band members in full regalia stepped out to buy treat. The locals stared with their mouths agape and they asked them "What Planet are you boys from?" You couldn't have paid them a higher compliment!
