History
8FOUNDead is a 3 piece hard alternative rock act originally from the very small town of Nodaway, Iowa. The band later moved to Cedar Falls.
The band takes their name from their hometown, Villisca, which is famous for the biggest murder mystery in Iowa to date, "the Villisca axe murders" that occured in 1912. A front page Villisca Review newspaper read that week: "8 People Murdered in Their Beds in Villisca Sunday Night"
The band is known for their beer-driven shows and drunken antics, some featuring Iowa high school football style introductions, beerbox hats, crazy mustaches, and ultimately, Jager Bombs.
Formed in 1996, the band has so far released 3 studio albums, sold over 1,000 records, and logged over 100 live shows throughout the Midwest.
The band features a unique two-guitar set up (no bass) and two primary vocalists and songwriters. The "bass-less" set up can be attributed to a big infuence of Illinois band Local H.
In 2001 the band filmed their first video with Fourth Wall Productions out of Los Angeles, CA to be featured in the documentary of the 1912 murders, "Villisca" - later the film would be a feature in Cedar Falls, at Oster Regent Theatre. The band's instrumental song and video "1912" appears on the DVD special features.
During this time, they added a third guitarist to play lead parts, Trevor Schroeter, also from southwest Iowa... still no bass. This line up continued the live shows for two years. The 3rd guitar only appeared on 8FD's 2nd album, "Microwave Society."
In the fall of 2001 the band moved to Cedar Falls where they started their own record label, AM/FM Records, and opened that area's now well-famed and premiere music venue, The Reverb.
